Guidance Department

The guidance department at Sackets Harbor serves many important functions. Mr. Tastor engages students in numerous career development and college planning activities. Students also get assistance with putting together their course schedules. In-addition, the Guidance office is a place for students to go to help them deal with personal and social concerns.

The College Application Process

Seniors are reminded that college applications should be sent out by December 10th. Make sure to ask for letters of recommendation well in advance!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Grades 7-12 Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on November 17th from 1pm to 8pm and on November 18th from 4pm to 7pm.

Financial Aid Night

Robyn Rhyner, Assistant Director of Admissions at Jefferson Community College will be conducting a Financial Aid Night at Sackets Harbor Central School in the MPR on Tuesday, December 9th at 7:00 pm.

Topics to be covered will include:

  • How to apply for financial aid
  • The timeline for applying for financial aid
  • The types of financial aid available

Financial Aid Information

Free applications for Federal Student Financial aid (FAFSA) will be available in the Guidance Office in early December.  Once again the New York State TAP form will be generated by filing a FAFSA form.  Some colleges will also require you to complete a CSS Profile.  Be sure to check with your colleges' financial aid offices to determine if they need more than the FAFSA completed. You can also apply for financial aid online.
