Paint, paint and more paint! Winter pine trees were our theme recently. Snowflakes next!
We created partial animal drawings, traded drawings three times with our friends, continued drawing, added a background, painted them and wrote a brief story. Wow, we worked hard!
Its winter and we are working on winter landscapes. Students are working with large and small shapes and creating distance in their drawings.
We recently read the book “If Dinosaurs Came Back” by Bernard Most. Students used their imaginations to create drawings based on this book. Wow, what imaginations!

Students are learning the power of observation and they are drawing from life. Their “still life” drawings will be on display soon.

The paint was flying recently when we created “Action Paintings” based on Jackson Pollock’s Abstract Expressionism style. Students loved expressing emotions and feelings with paint!
In anticipation of the Whale Watch, students are creating logos for their T-shirts. The most original design will be chosen.
Students are working with light, color, and reflections in their still life paintings of glass. They studied artwork by American artist Janet Fish who works with bright, reflected colors.
Students are just about finished with their plaster figurative sculptures. We studied American artist George Segal who became famous for his unique figurative sculptures. Please stop by the Library, where they are on display.
