Elementary: 5th and 6th grade

*20 minutes every other day

*non-graded

*basic vocabulary, questions, responses, cultural info. and awareness

 

 

Middle School: 7th and 8th grade

*27 minutes every day

*Speed Spanish

     -Unique way to begin combining phrases in Spanish

     -Students very quickly are able to speak and write about a variety of topics

*Testing - Proficiency will be given at the end of 8th grade

*State test - Assesses 4 skill areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing (30 words in Spanish)

Credit by Challenge:

*8th Grade students earning a 90 or greater percent average in Spanish Class and who accomplished a 90 or greater percent on the Spanish Proficiency Exam as well as completing several study packets may be eligible to advance to Spanish II as a 9th grader.  If interested, please discuss this opportunity with your Spanish teacher.

*Extends vocabulary

*Continually focus on reading, writing, listening and speaking

Testing:

New York State Regents will be given at the end of Spanish 3.  It will assess four skill areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing (125 words in Spanish).
