Career and Financial Management
In November and December we will continue to work with our budget project. We will be busy writing monthly checks to pay our regular monthly bills and adjusting our budget for unexpected expenses that will be arising. We will also learn how to keep an accurate checkbook and we will learn about different banking institutions.

Class Overview
This one-half unit class, Career and Financial Management, provides an opportunity for you to develop financial awareness and sound money management skills. Some objectives of this course include:
- Identify the basic features of different economic systems, and analyze the major features of the U.S. economic system.
- Identify various forms of income and analyze factors that affect income as a part of the career decision-making process.
- Develop and evaluate a spending/savings plan.
- Evaluate savings and investment options to meet short- and long-term goals.
- Evaluate services provided by financial deposit institutions.
- Analyze factors that affect the choice of credit, the cost of credit, and the legal aspects of using credit.
- Analyze choices available to consumers for protection against risk and financial loss.
- Explain the general covenants that are usually contained in residential lease agreements.
- Evaluate various housing alternatives when looking into renting and/or buying a residence.
- Analyze factors that affect your decision to buy a new vehicle vs. a used vehicle.
