The second graders have already started this year off on the right foot. They have just finished learning about plants. They are currently working on land and water forms and the basic measurement systems. They are also working on their addition strategies and short vowels. They enjoy reading about friendships and they are making a few of there own.
During the year, Second graders go on field trips. Some field trips that they will go on are to the Samaritan medical center and the Sci-Tech Center on October 21, the Oswegatchie Nature Center on March 29, and the Dairyland Festival on June 3rd.
During the year the students read fables like The Cat and The Mouse, The Tortoise and the Hare, and Pulin and Miga. When they are done reading them they talk about what kind or themes they are learning from these fables and how they can use them in real life.
